Now let’s talk about TCU.
TCU baseball is not a program families stumble into.
It requires timing.
Preparation.
And a real plan.
The Frogs finished 2026 at 33-21 overall and 17-13 in the Big 12.
They were picked by the coaches to win the Big 12 before the season.
Did the year go exactly as planned?
No.
But 33 wins in the Big 12 is still real baseball.
That league is a street fight every weekend.
TCU also went 23-5 at home in a 4,500-seat stadium in Fort Worth.
That matters.
Home-field advantage is real when the park is loud, competitive, and the program expects to win.
Head coach Kirk Saarloos is now entering his fifth year as head coach and has been part of the TCU program for 14 seasons.
Nine as an assistant.
Now leading the program.
He knows the culture.
He knows the roster.
He knows what fits.
And that is where recruiting families need to pay attention.
They are heavily recruiting 2027 and 2028 class.
That will not last long.
This is not a staff only looking in its backyard.
They recruit talent.
They recruit fit.
They recruit early.
And they build rosters with purpose.
Here is what families should notice:
After 2027, TCU has roster turnover that includes:
• 2 infielders
• 2 outfielders
• 2 right-handed pitchers
• 1 catcher
• Plus tranfers
After 2028, more turnover includes (plus transfers):
• 1 infielder
• 1 outfielder
• 2 right-handed pitchers
Those are real roster needs.
That does not mean every player should email TCU tomorrow and say, “I saw you need infielders.”
Please do not do that.
That is how you get ignored with confidence.
The better question is:
Does your son actually fit what a program like TCU needs?
That means looking at:
• His position
• His metrics
• His academics
• His projection
• His grad year
• The roster timeline
• The school fit
• Whether the staff already knows about him
That is what recruiting really is.
It is not just wanting the logo.
It is understanding the fit.
TCU is a private university with strong academics, a tight-knit campus environment, Big 12 baseball every weekend, and a program that has been to Omaha under this staff.
They won the Big 12 Tournament in 2023, won a road regional, won the Fort Worth Super Regional, and reached the College World Series.
In 2025, they went 39-20, won the Big 12 Tournament again, and made a Super Regional.
This is a consistent national-level program.
For the right player, it can be a great fit.
For the wrong player, it is just another dream school on a list with no strategy behind it.
That is the mistake most families make.
They build a dream list.
They do not build a recruiting plan.
